Suggested Drum Microphones

Kick Drum – Cardiod Mic facing skin of drum (e.g Sennheiser E602)

Snare – 2x Omnidirectional condensor mics. One pointing down at top of snare, one pointed up at underside of snare (reverse phase of underside mic) . (e.g DPA 4091)

Hi-hats – Condensor mic with diaphragm aimed at edge of hi-hat (e.g AKG 414)

Overhead – 1 cardiod overhead between the hihat and snare, 1 lower down pointed across to the snare over the floor tom (both mics equidistant from the snare) (e.g Neumann TLM 103)

For added control extra mics can be added with diaphragms aimed at the Tom skins. (e.g MD421)
