Studio Project

For the module “Studio Project”, as part of the BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology course run by Anglia Ruskin University, we have been set the following tasks.

Using the studio record and produce 2 musical pieces.

1st piece:

Can be an original or a cover.
2 – 6 minutes
Any genre
Must include Drums, Bass, Guitar or Piano
optional – Anything Woodwind, Brass, Strings, Percussion or Synth.

All instruments must be recorded via microphone (Direct input is allowed)

Limited to the following treaments:
High pass filter
Sample delays
Compression
Side Chaining
Limiting (Master channel only)
No clipping before the limiter
Final mix to be precisely -0.2dB.

This section of my blog is to document the plans, progress and and photos or screen-shots relative to this project.

2nd piece (emulation of production techniques):

Must be an original piece
2 – 6 minutes
Instruments as for 1st piece (but definitely include either brass, percussion, woodwind or synth)
Bass and Guitar can be DI
All other instruments must be recorded via microphones.
Use either present or past production techniques to create an original pastiche.
